Bacterial toxins in the pulp form an unusual infection pattern. Instead of infecting the pathway of the neurovacular bundle of the pulp that leads to the apical region of the tooth and cause an apical periodontitis, the toxins cause a slow internal infection of the root in a term called Internal Resorption.
